Remodeling a kitchen is a huge undertaking. There are so many choices to be made – the style, color scheme, full remodel or just a “face-lift.”

One area that we find clients get stuck on is what type of countertops to choose. While many people want to choose just based on looks, there is more to it than that.

We’ve put together some information on the most popular types of countertops to help you decide which would be best in your kitchen.

Granite (Most Popular Countertop Material)
The most popular countertop material is granite. If you like to bake, granite is an excellent choice because it can withstand heat, so you can take your cake out of the oven, set it down directly on the counter, and not worry about cracks or damage.

Granite is low maintenance; it does not need to be sealed and does not scratch easily. Granite comes in a huge selection of colors and can work with just about any kitchen style.

How Remodeling Can Help You Fall in Love with Your Home Again
Do you love your home? It’s February, and Valentine’s Day is still fresh on your mind. It seems like a good time to remember how much your home does for you.

If you have fallen out of love with your home, it might be time for a remodeling project that will help you remember what attracted you to it. If you’re planning a remodeling project this year, here are some ways that you can make sure you fall in love with your home again.

Make it More ‘You’
Your home should be a reflection of your individuality and style. But your personal tastes change over the years, along with home design trends.

If your home doesn’t scream “You!” to anyone who enters it (especially you), then it might be time for a change.

You might have loved ornate, traditional styling in your kitchen and dining room a few years ago, but maybe now you want something a cleaner, more modern design.

The master bath that’s original to the home might be functional, but now you need a place to relax.

Making your home fit your personality might be as simple as changing the furniture and throwing up a few coats of paint. But with a remodeling project, you can make it look – and function – the way YOU want it to.

And a home that reflects who you are is one that you’re sure to love.

Make Room for Gathering
If it’s been a few years since you moved into your home, chances are the people in your life have changed. Maybe you’ve become close with your neighbors. Maybe your circle of friends has grown.

Maybe your family has grown.

Nothing fills a house with life like gathering together your friends and family. And if your home can’t accommodate large get-togethers, it might be time to make some changes.

The place to start is the kitchen. It’s the heart of the home and where your food is prepared and the drinks are kept cold. It’s where everyone wants to hang out. So your kitchen should be able to allow people to move through it and collect in it.

Another popular gathering area is your outdoor space – your deck, your patio, your yard. You likely have plenty of room, but is it set up well for gatherings?

Projects you might consider this year could be a new deck or patio with zones for seating and conversation, for kids to play, and of course for grilling and cooking. To that end, why not take it up a notch and build an outdoor kitchen? You and your guests will love it.

Take Care of You
Finally, your home should be your sanctuary. A place to rest, relax, and rejuvenate. In short, your home should take care of you.

The room that does this the best is the master suite. You want a quiet, comfortable place where you can get away from the hectic day and get some sleep. In the master bath, you need a tranquil place where you can soothe your body and maintain your health.

Having a home that makes it easy for you to care for yourself and your family is a sure way to fall in love with it again.

If you want to fall in love with your home, give us a call and we’ll help you plan the projects that will bring that love back!
