5 Ideas to Inspire Your Powder Room Design

The kitchen may be the heart of the home, and the living room is great for entertaining, but an often overlooked part of the home deserves more attention – the powder room.

The powder room is a small space where you can make a major statement since you don’t have to commit to renovating and decorating a large space. Need some inspiration? Let’s look at some of our favorite powder room design schemes.

Glamorous

Just because a powder room is small doesn’t mean it can’t be glamorous. Starting with your walls, you can install elegant wallpaper with florals or an intricate pattern. Your vanity and sink could be marble, making the space look and feel luxurious.

What’s New in the Kitchen?

Kitchen trends change quickly, and it can be hard to keep up! We don’t recommend completely remodeling your kitchen every time a trend changes; that isn’t realistic. But if you’re curious about what the latest kitchen trends are, we’ve got you covered.

Let’s take a look at some of the new trends taking over in the kitchen.

Timeless With a Splash of Trendy

Many homeowners are choosing to combine timeless bases in their kitchens with some trendy pieces. This could look like installing timeless oak cabinets and pairing them with trendy big, gold door pulls and a brightly colored glass tile backsplash. Door pulls and backsplashes are relatively easy to change out if you are the type who likes to redecorate every couple of years.

Natural Stone and Waterfalls

Beautiful, natural stone slabs are being used all over the kitchen. We especially love using natural stone on the kitchen island with a waterfall edge. The waterfall edge will allow the natural stone, like granite or marble, to wrap around the island and make your kitchen look incredibly modern.

Cabinets Are for More than Just Dishes

Nobody wants to see your microwave or coffee maker anymore. Instead, installing floor-to-ceiling cabinets that can hide your small appliances is on trend. These cabinets will reduce your visible counter space, but that’s okay since you aren’t losing any usable space.

Get Bold

Move over, all-white kitchen! Kitchens with bold colors are becoming more popular. Dark blue or green cabinets with a bright backsplash are a great place to start. The accessories and artwork being used in kitchens are also getting brighter, which is a nice change from the colorless kitchens that have been popular for years.

Secondary Kitchen Spaces

Secondary kitchens, also called prep kitchens or sculleries, are a space next to your primary kitchen where you can prepare meals and use them as storage. This will free up your primary kitchen from the mess that comes along with preparing a meal. If you feel like your kitchen is overcrowded, you’ll love this trend.

An Impractical Trend

Lastly, there is a new kitchen trend that we think will go out as quickly as it has come in, removing the highly functional kitchen island in place for a large dining table or something similar. Kitchen islands have been popular for well over a decade, so it’s no surprise some people may want to see something new – but we do not think this trend will last.
